Deese Howard Boat Ramp

About Deese Howard Boat Ramp

The Deese Howard Boat Ramp is located in a small one acre park in Northern Suwannee County along the Suwanee River and adjacent to the Fox Trail tract managed by the Suwannee River Water Management District which features 199 acres of hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails. These trails, which connect to the Spirit of the Suwannee equestrian trails, can be accessed from the same parking lot as the Deese Howard boat ramp. The park is also along the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail route from White Springs to the mouth of the Suwannee at the Gulf of Mexico.

The property for the boat ramp was donated to the County in 1993 by the Deese family and named in honor of the family and then County Commissioner Howard. In 2011, Suwannee County completed over $100,000 in renovations to the boat ramp from a Florida Boating Improvement Program grant. The park now features a one lane concrete boat ramp, concrete trailer parking area, two picnic tables, grill, portable restroom and kiosk.
