Little River Springs

Little River Springs is a 125-acre county park on the Suwannee River that hosts a large spring with quintessential North Florida crystal clear waters, an abundance of natural beauty, and a great opportunity to discover the biodiversity hidden within its ecosystem.

Preparation

Prepare to spend the whole day outdoors, rain or shine. Some areas of the park may only be accessible with a considerable amount of walking on trails that may be difficult to navigate. We are hoping to encounter a variety of wildlife, but this includes snakes, mosquitos, ticks, etc.

Things to Bring:

  • Cellphone
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Camera
  • Binoculars
  • Sunscreen
  • Plenty of water
  • Bug spray

Never heard of inaturalist smartphone app?

What’s the iNaturalist App?

We will be using the iNaturalist app, free and available at the IOS and Android app store, to record observations directly into the Little River Springs BioBlitz project. For video tutorials on how to use the app, please visit the iNaturalist tutorial page.

Why is this important?

Identifying bio-diversity is a lot of fun.  But it’s more than that, the more we become aware of the life all around us, the more likely we are to have a heightened awareness of our role in a much larger ecosystem.  So bring your friends and family and participate in our BioBlitz event!
